Treadmill Print     The Treadmills are rolling belts with an adjustable speed and slope, enabling easy and accurate testing of fatigue in rodents. The rolling belt provides the animal with enough room to correct co-ordination errors before failure, thus giving a better measure of fatigue instead of impairment of motor co-ordination.           A grid at the end of the belt administers a shock that forces the animal to run in order to avoid it. The values that can be quantified in a trial are belt speed and slope, distance travelled in metres, shock time, and shock intensity. Belt velocity also can be controlled by software. The apparatus can optionally be provided with an air isolated enclosure for metabolism studies.
