Though SMART can only work with one image at a time, the system can have up to three different image sources (camera/video) connected to the frame grabber or I/O module.
Once a camera is chosen, its video parameters (brightness, contrast, hue, etc.) can be modified thanks to the window. The better configured the camera is (i.e., the clearer and more contrasted the image is), the better SMART will be able to track.

Various working environments can be defined, each one of them containing the configuration best adapted to each different experimental set-up. These configurations can be saved in different configuration files, and later recovered.
Before using the event marker, it is highly advisable to define which code (e.g. "Roaming", "Sniffing", etc.) will be associated with each experimental situation that the researcher wishes to record.

The user can set the default paths where the system will store and/or look for the following information: zone's files, data acquisition files, analysis results files, and files with lists of subjects. Nevertheless, the user can always save or get the information from whatever path he/she desires.
